Honors Academy: Empowerment of health and well-being

September 2016 - June 2018

Assessed: Excellent (Year 1) and Sufficient (Year 2).

Extracurricular two-years program to challenge myself with societal design challenges, multidisciplinary teamwork and foster personal development.

In the first year, I worked on stimulating physical activity in pregnant women. The second year focussed on building a home rehabilitation application for paraplegic patients (client G-Therapeutics).

Year 1: PregnandFit

A personal fitness coach designed as a wall furniture that evolves throughout the pregnancy. The tool provides daily workouts focusing on certain fitness categories tailored to the woman’s stage of pregnancy, her prior activities on that day (measured by a fitness tracker) and how she is feeling. Overall, the aim was to use the life changing experience of becoming a mother as stimulus for developing a sustainable active lifestyle.

Year 2: Go2Home

This project focused on home rehabilitation of people with a spinal cord injury. In collaboration with GTXmedical, who are developing an implant to recover the spine, a product was developed to improve performance of home rehabilitation exercises and increase motivation. The solution involves motion analysis, the provision of real-time feedback and gamification. Due to an NDA, no more information can be provided.
